Blog: Gr33n Wa6on

For Information Technology (LI815), I was required to create a blog.  This class focused on the types of technologies used in libraries; it encouraged us to explore and understand how technologies like open source software, Web 2.0 technologies, and integrated library systems (ILS) are used in library applications.
I researched several different types of open source services (such as WordPress) before deciding to use Blogger to create my blog, which I called Gr33n Wa6on.  I decided that the blog would be a forum for library-related resources that would be useful to me in the future, and that might be useful to my fellow students.
I experimented with different types of postings on Gr33n Wa6on, including video and images, and I used the blog postings to create or supplement other assignments in my coursework.  I researched creative commons and public domain sources to illustrate the blog.  I feel that this experimentation contributed to my confidence with exploring and using new technologies in a meaningful way, and encouraged my desire to continue learning about technologies as part of my commitment to lifelong learning.  The links and postings on my blog were specific to issues that libraries, librarians, and students of library science would find interesting or useful, including links to the APA Style Manual, I Need a Library Job website, and Preserving History.
